Messaging service WhatsApp is soon going to introduce the video calling feature, enabling users to have video chats.
Leaked screenshots of the new feature were posted on a German
website, which claimed the screenshots belonged to an unreleased version
of the Whatsapp application for iOS.
According to the website, the screenshots are from version 2.12.16.2 of the app, which is currently being tested internally.
Although no official confirmation has yet been received of the new
feature, there is much speculation of the new feature being released in
the next update. Once activated, it may be a replacement for existing
video calling software such as Skype.
The new update is reported to bring with it the option for multiple
chat tabs, enabling users to switch between conversations without having
to return to the actual chat list.
Facebook had bought WhatsApp for $22 billion last year after which
the messaging app has continued to grow, with the addition of many new
features. The app now has over 900 million monthly active users.
